the impact

One of the most important lessons I learned during my previous volunteering experience was that relatively small amounts of money can have a life-changing impact when they are used in the right place at the right time.

Fundraising carried out before my previous trip helped support a number of practical projects and individuals.

Mbuso's Walking Frame

One of those people was Mbuso.

Fundraising helped provide a walking frame that improved his mobility and independence. Something that might seem ordinary to many of us made a meaningful difference to his daily life.

It was a simple reminder that practical support can be transformational.

Making a Home Safe and Dry

Fundraising also helped weatherproof the home of a local resident with advanced breast cancer.

The work helped weatherproof her home and keep her warm and dry.

Again, it was not a grand gesture or a major building project. It was a practical intervention that made everyday life a little easier.

Community Support

Other fundraising contributed towards equipment, supplies and support for community projects. And then there was Emma.

Emma was twelve years old when she died unexpectedly and her family did not have the means to provide a funeral.

The community came together to help, and part of the money I had raised helped provide the tent and chairs needed for her funeral and the traditional overnight mourning service.

I never met Emma.

I never knew her.

But volunteering has taught me that you don't always see the impact you have.

Sometimes you never meet the people whose lives are affected.

Sometimes the contribution you make feels small.

But small actions travel further than you think.

A few weeks of volunteering.

A fundraising appeal.

A few donations.

A little time.

And somewhere else in the world, a man stands up, an elderly woman is more comfortable, and a family is able to say goodbye to a child with dignity.

Looking Forward

The funds raised through Positive Impact 20 will be used in the same spirit.

The aim is not simply to raise money.

The aim is to create positive change.

Future donations may support practical community projects, educational initiatives, accessibility equipment, health-related support or other locally identified needs.

As projects are identified and completed, updates will be shared here so supporters can see the difference their generosity has helped create.

Every donation contributes to that story.

Every donation becomes part of a positive impact that extends far beyond a single trip.

Fundraising Progress

Every donation, regardless of size, helps create practical change and supports communities in ways that matter.
